Este texto ofrece un análisis de la obra de Shlomo Sand, La invención del pueblo judío, la cual examina cómo las nociones de pueblo y nación judía, de la identidad judía e israelí, fueron construidas históricamente. Se explora cómo Sand desafía la idea de una homogeneidad etnobiológica ininterrumpida del pueblo judío, y señala que los mitos fundacionales del sionismo y el Estado de Israel, como la expulsión masiva y un origen biológico único, carecen de verificación histórica. A partir de esta reseña, el objetivo es abrir una discusión crítica sobre el papel de la memoria religiosa y los mitos nacionales en la conformación de la ciudadanía y la identidad etnorreligiosa en el Estado de Israel.
