Resumen
El presente texto explora como la obra Engaging South Asian Religions: Boundaries, Appropriations, and Resistances aborda las complejidades de las representaciones académicas occidentales de las religiones del sur de Asia, especialmente la religión hindú y la cultura india, en un contexto de identidades en aumento y controversias. Para ello, se centra en temas como la continuidad y la ruptura entre regímenes precoloniales y coloniales, la aplicación de categorías occidentales a mundos no occidentales, y la problemática recepción de trabajos académicos en este campo. Este texto invita a una reconsideración crítica de los conceptos de lo universal y lo particular en el entendimiento de las sociedades.
