Abstract
Throughout the second half of the 20th century, South Africa was constantly discussed within the international community and one name in particular was frequently brought up: Nelson Mandela’s. However, despite South Africa receiving so much attention at the time, nowadays there is a great deal of ignorance about it, its history and Nelson Mandela, both in terms of who he was and the role he played. Therefore, this study focuses on the life and impact of Nelson Mandela, while contextualizing him within the history of South Africa and apartheid.
