Abstract

This article presents the figure of the Buddhist philosopher Vasubandhu, one of the main representatives of the so called “Buddhist Idealism”, that flourished around the fourth century of the AD, and constitutes one of the most important currents of thought of the Mahayana. The article focuses on one of his most important works: The Twenty Verses (Vi'satikākārikā), and analyses different interpretations of the text, that of “Radical Idealism” and that which the author adopts, “Pragmatic Cognitivism”.
