Peer Review Process

Estudios de Asia y África accepts original research articles in Spanish, Portuguese, and English, although texts in other languages may be considered. At least two peers review each research article. They may accept the article for publication, accept it subject to changes, demand that the article be reviewed again after changes are made or reject it. When the authors upload the corrected version of their text, they are requested to send as well a special form in which they register the changes that they have introduced to their text in line with requests made by the reviewers, while noting, with an argument, those with which they totally disagree.

Texts for Translations from Asian and African languages are also reviewed by two peers.

Texts for other sections of the Journal, such as Current Asia and Africa, Review Articles and Book Reviews are reviewed by one peer.

Authors will be informed of results once the peer evaluation has been finalized.

An article will be rejected if it has not received a positive evaluation by both reviewers in a second review process, and if one or both reviewers determine that it should be subjected to a third round of reviews.

If, while the journal is processing the submissions, the authors fail to respond to requests from the editorial team within a lapse of three months, the submission will be rejected. The submission will also be rejected if the authors do not send their corrected version within a maximum of three months after receiving the reviews.

The number of proposals received by Estudios de Asia y Africa is very high, so even if an article is accepted, its publication cannot be guaranteed in a short period of time. Depending on the number of submissions in editorial process, the publication period may vary from one to two years after the proposal has been accepted.
